Google WaveIf you’re a tech aficionado and/or a Google product kool aid drinker you’ve probably heard about the Google Wave buzz. You won’t really appreciate the weight of this announcement until you set aside an hour and watch this keynote video. This really could revolutionize email/communication as we know it! The demos in this video are amazing!

I saw this video on a blog earlier and was amazed at how this type of ‘time freeze’ concept is done.  Once you finish watching the final product, check out the one below on how they made it.  I would NEVER have guessed!!

Wow.

I knew technology was growing at an exponential rate, but seeing this is amazing and scary at the same time. Technology is growing at such a fast pace will our job as we know it exist in 10 or even 5 years?

I was just made aware of this parody over on Allan’s blog and I’m still laughing out loud. I’m sure by now many of you have seen the cool but creepy “BigDog” robot and what it’s capable of. For those who haven’t seen the original video, take a look at it now before watching the parody.

The original and real BigDog robot

Now for the parody… (My favorite part is the swing set)

Youth, Technology and the Future in Perspective

Julia Roy posted an entry a couple weeks ago and it got me thinking… It’s hard to believe that only a few years ago we were in high school and the world was technologically archaic compared with 2008 (sadly I still think 15 years is a few). Scary almost… If we’ve went from word processors to online apps, from snail-mail to email, pagers to SMS and Atari to 360 in less than 20 years! So what will the next 20 hold?

Now having a three year old son and another one on the way I can’t help but wonder what changes they’ll see from their youth to adult-hood. For us it was finding pay phones to using cell phones. What will the evolution of communication/technology hold as they mature? Will they’ll be saying “remember when we used to use cell phones back in the day!” Maybe a cell phone isn’t the best example as I’m sure they’ll be around ,but they’ll probably be as powerful as our current desktop screamers (or better). You get the idea.. The way technology is progressing it’s hard to comprehend what life will be like when my boys are 18. The trick will be to keep everything in perspective as gadgets continue to make our lives easy and fun!

You can always take it a step further… What’s God’s take on all of this? Would Jesus carry an iPhone or a Blackberry? Would he use Technology to advance the Gospel? Just thinking.
