Saw this posted on Twitter earlier and it’s too good not to re-post.  If you’re unsure about what is a Democracy vs Republic (and socialism for that matter) take a few minutes and watch this. Very informative and enlightening.  Your thoughts?

The American Form of Government

Wow. President Bush just called our nation a democracy. That shows you where our nation and the freedoms we supposingly have are ruled. Take for example: our rights to say "Christ" in public places at Christmas, schools, etc. Since when does the few have the right to rule? You know Obahma has been said to have a "Socialistic" view. Pray for our nation at this time.
  • I know... Sad when the LOUD minority have the full-attention and backing of our Government to the detriment of the majority. We're not demanding (nor will we ever demand) that their ways and beliefs be silenced and yet it works the opposite way?
  • The united states is both a Republic and an Oligarchy. It's just that the Oligarchy gets to hide behind the republic and make people think that the people we voted for are in control.

The Oligarchy in America came into being disguised as the 'Federal Reserve Act' signed in December 23rd, 1913.

It's only in the last few years that it is getting hard for the people who are actually in control to hide that fact.
  • I like your comment "it is getting hard for the people who are actually in control to hide that fact". It's funny how in the case of the first bailout (mortgage related right before the election), public opinion was overwhelmingly against it. BUT.. for some unknown reason (sarcastically) it went through without a problem. We're in for a bumpy ride.
  • Wow. What a cool video. I have to admit that I have always called the US a democracy. I guess I will have to change that and call the United States a republic. That's okay with me, though. I think republic sounds cooler. Hehe. :)
  • Yea I definitely learned some stuff I wasn't aware of either with this video too. Very good synopsis.

That was really interesting. Our founding fathers knew the difference between a democracy and a republic. "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. And to the REPUBLIC for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all."
