Not sure why in the world Michael Jackson’s “P.Y.T.” (Pretty Young Thing) just popped into my head. But got me thinking…. We need current artists who aren’t afraid to use acronyms in their songs like MJ did. I mean really… What better “filler” lyrical content is there than using an acronym and immediately giving the definition afterward?

I Want To Love You (P.Y.T.)
Pretty Young Thing
You Need Some Lovin’ (T.L.C.)
Tender Lovin’ Care
And I’ll Take You There

So are there any other songs you can think of that use acronyms like this?

Down with OPP! – naughty by nature
    C.R.E.A.M – Wu Tang Clan

Vinces last blog post..The Reality of it All

acronyms don’t come to mind. spelling does:

r-o-c-k in the usa – mellencamp
    r-e-s-p-e-c-t – aretha
    y-m-c-a – village people
    b-i-n-g-o – children everywhere

but with online/text chat acronyms in vogue, i’m sure the songs will follow: OMG, LOL, BFN, etc.

I think Donavon’s onto something… soon you’ll hear a remake featuring the lyrics “I wanna TEXT you up” with a soulful “TTFN, Girl!” thrown in here and there.
