As a part of Positive Post Tuesday I’d like to tell you about Jimmy Caccavo who passed from this life yesterday.

A few days after my pastor reconnected with Jimmy, an old high-school friend, he was diagnosed with cancer. During the 18 months that followed I never saw Jim with his head down feeling sorry for himself. He gave his life to Christ and used the influence he had to show others just how having a relationship with Jesus Christ can turn a normally devastating situation into something full of hope. Although I didn’t know Jimmy on a personal level my prayers go out to the family and friends he left behind. Having lost my Grandfather a couple months ago I can relate to the sorrow and know it will be a tough time for them. But just as my Grandfather knew Jesus, so did Jimmy and we know he’s in a better place. And that one fact alone makes this “transition” a little easier… Knowing he’s continuing his journey on the other side.

Psalms116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

Joining in prayer and support for Jimmy’s family, this morning getting into work and just checked my twitter and the ESV verse of the day was
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. ”
and I thought how fitful… I can only hope that the same will be said for me someday that I make that leap…

I always wonder about myself when I see people going through such a hard situation. Will I be that strong if I’m ever faced with something like that? I like to hope so. Jim was an amazing example to others when it came to his faith. We are all praying for his family. I can only imagine what’s he’s seeing right now. =)
